I got off work and picked up my sister for a late lunch at Face Cafe. I absolutely love their iced lemonade drink, the honey they use is super liquidy and sweet and it's probably filled with bad sugars but so delicious. Groupon was also featuring a deal for them $15 for $20 so I went overboard with ordering. I. Will. Never. Order. Eggplant. Here. Ever. Again.

Woke up and went to an antique store, made a pit stop at ZARA, picked up my sister from a tea house where she was having a fundraiser for a club, had dinner at Chipotle since she's been craving it for the longest time (even though I have not yet recovered from the sickness caused by the overeating/taking advantage of their BUY1GET1FREE deal), and a stop at Wal-Mart because sis is making chocolate truffles tomorrow.

Chinese New Years Eve

Today is Chinese New Years Eve! This year is the year of the Dragon and according to my dad, there's going to be loads of Asian woman trying to get impregnated this year because everyone wants their son (or daughter if they're not lucky) to be born on the year of the Dragon. Not sure what the real history behind it is on wanting to be a Dragon aside from the obvious fact that it's a significant animal/creature but it's a pretty big deal I guess, even Las Vegas is celebrating! I saw many hotels putting up extravagant decorations in honor of this holiday and it makes me want to go so bad because this happens only every ten years meaning a decade!

This morning I went to pick up a beautiful tree branch today filled with flowers that seem similiar to cherry blossoms from my aunt who bought a tiny tree a few years ago and now has a giant tree in her front yard filled with gorgeous baby pink flowers every year during this season. Bringing this branch of flowers home was the funniest thing, I had gotten a car wash recently so I didn't want my car getting dirty so I had my sister hold onto the thing as it sat on the top of my car.

My parents work late my sister and I had to wait until they got home to feast. We had dinner around 10/11pm and I was starving since I wasn't allowed to eat anything before hand. (Dinner during Chinese New Year is buffet style so you'll want an empty stomach.) Surpringsly though, because it was so late and mom and dad was so tired a plate of beautiful chicken and some sweet and sour pork hit the spot.

We just finished eating and mom is still cooking away making these fried sweet crunchy dumpling type things. Ingredients are pretty simple: sugar, sesame seeds, and peanuts. The skin used is the same as the ones used for wontons but because they normally come in the shapes of squares my mom uses a bowl and cuts them into circles. I personally don't enjoy them very much but my dad and sister seems to love them. They remain crunchy for about a week but of course, like all fried food, best when it's right out of the pool of oil. I have to admit, mom doesn't have much skill when it comes to making "real" food but she knows all the recipes to these sweet Asian desserts.

Tomorrow is the official day so I can't wait to see what dad whips up for dinner. The advantages of having a chef for a dad!

I don't remember if I made a post on this bag back on my old blog but I'm going to post it up again anyways. So for my 21st birthday I decided to get myself a nice pretty present since at that time my job was paying me really, really well. I paid off all my bills, I made my first payment for my parents (our house mortgage taxes), and I took my sister Black Friday shopping. I felt that I deserved something fancy since I wasn't into the big partying and getting drunk scene anyways, I knew exactly what would make me happy.

It's been a while since I've bought a new bag. A year or two ago my addiction to handbags after discovering The Purse Forum was really, really bad. I think I bought a new bag (specifically Rebecca Minkoff) every other month or so. After graduating and the student loans started rolling in, growing up and making all these new grown up decisions and payments I knew I had to give that addiction a rest.

I had previously owned an Alexander Wang Coco before. (The first edition of this bag was named the 'Coco' but for the seasons after that I don't know why but they changed it to 'Rocco'. I owned 2 of them actually. Both were black with brass studs. One of my close friends borrowed the other one and decided to buy it so that was one. The other one was sold.. I don't recall why but I sold it. I think at the time being it was not only I probably needed the money but also because the bag gave me really sore arms and shoulders.. the bag is most certainly not the world's lightest or comfy bag.

When I heard that the newer versions of the Rocco came with straps I was sold. I knew I had to have one again. I was originally going to go with getting a black with brass or the new beautiful rose gold studs but when I saw this being carried by Rosie Hungtington Whiteley I knew it was the one I had to have. Lucky for me, a lovely seller on eBay happened to be letting hers go for a lot less than the original price tag and though the bag came with a few minor stains on the corner, I could live with that so I purchased it!

Looooooooooooove the bag so much and I am most certainly not letting this one go. It's not black but surprisingly it goes with many things. It's a tan and pink neutral color so it's not necessarily hard to work with.

I was planning on painting my nails shades of pink but then I came across this tiny bottle of glitter that had been sitting in my box of nail polishes for almost 2-3 years. (My first part time job was at the mall working at a nail kiosk.) Painted a stroke of it as a tester on my nail by itself but it came out clearish gray so I decided to undercoat it with black. Came out looking like the galaxy with it's black background & glitter so I decided what the heck, mind as well use up this entire bottle!

My favorite hoodie bundled up with my go-to leather jacket that I've had for an ongoing 5 years now I believe. Both are super comfy and warm, it rained last night and sprinkled this morning here in LA. I can't imagine my visit to Seattle in the coming months when I'm already freezing in 70 degree weather. The BFF sent a video of snow yesterday, though I hate the cold I can't wait to see!

Once again I'm convinced I'd want a wedding outside of a church or at some fancy resort. There's something special about the simplicity of having it at an open field or a farm.

Had a lovely dim sum luncheon for three at a new restaurant that wasn't impressive at all, except for one dish. Their coconut buns. After, dad wanted to go buy some live gooses so we went to this what looked like/seemed to be a home owned farm called "Corona Cattle Inc." out in Corona where they raised cattle, poultry, and etc.. I can't eat anything I've seen move or it's face, except for fish.

Went out to celebrate my friends Anthony, Diana, and Henry's Birthdays all in the month of January tonight at Belasco's in Downtown Los Angeles.

I swear, I feel like I am the ONLY girl who isn't dressed in a skanky dress and uncomfortable heels every time I'm at the club. First of all, I feel much more comfortable in an outfit I can trust that won't expose parts of my body I wouldn't want seen and second, are girls not aware that the floors of a club are filled with germs of all sorts because girls eventually take off those distressing heels and dance barefoot.

I danced the night away to my favorite song at the moment Calvin Harris - Feel So Close. The DJ played both the original and Benny Benassi's remix. Love love love!

Waking up the next morning and not being able to walk = a great night!

Wore this outfit to my grand aunt's (is that what you call your grandpa's sister? Let me know if there's another name I'm suppose to call her!) 2nd New Years Potluck. Each family brought one or more dish(es). Dad brought $40 worth of Asian/Chinese "Barbecue" which meant duck and pork. I love duck.. pork.. not so much. My aunt makes the most delicious potato salad, it's always the biggest portion on my plate :)

My sister loves to make fun of my outfits since our style is so different. Today she said I looked like I belonged at the zoo.

By the way, that instagram photo of the fishes in the pond.. they look like koi fishes right? Well they're not. They're actually the fishes you win at carnivals! I have no idea what my aunt feeds them but they're huge now! They never live past a week whenever I get them!

Christmas 2011

This Christmas was quite different from the previous years. My cousin Kary had to leave a few hours after gift opening and my bff Mei Lin was leaving for Seattle the couple of days after. Instead of receiving gifts this holiday, I was having my most loved possessions taken away, my loved ones :(

I miss them both so much already! I cannot wait until my sister's graduation in June so we can all be together again!
